About Katy Trail
Katy Trail is Denison's multi-use rail-trail built along abandoned Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad right-of-way, connecting the city's railroad heritage with modern outdoor recreation. Phase I extends approximately one mile from Day Street to Loy Lake Road on a 12-foot-wide concrete trail and features six railroad-inspired sculptures along the route. The shared-use trail accommodates walkers, runners, bicyclists, people using wheelchairs, families with strollers and visitors with leashed dogs. A 1.3-mile Phase II extension continues south from Loy Lake Road toward Theresa Drive, although a portion of Phase II is temporarily closed during a major 2026 improvement project. Parking and convenient trail access are available from the Waterloo Lake Regional Park and Waterloo Dog Park area.
