About Crooked Smile Trail
Crooked Smile Trail is a 1.75-mile public walking, running and cross-country trail associated with Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant. The route combines concrete and natural-surface paths through tree-covered scenery and small rolling hills. Originally opened in 2017 as a home course for Southeastern cross country and other competitions, the trail has also become a community recreation resource for walking, running and exercise. A bridge and path extension completed in 2025 connected the trail directly with Southeastern's main campus near the Visual & Performing Arts Center and extended the route to 1.75 miles. Crooked Smile Trail also connects with Schuler Loop, contributing to nearly 4.5 miles of connected trails around the Southeastern campus. The trail is named in memory of Colton Sherrill, who was known as the boy with a 'crooked smile.'
