About Southeastern Oklahoma State University

Southeastern Oklahoma State University is a public four-year university and major cultural, educational and event hub in Durant. Founded in 1909 as Southeastern State Normal School, the university's historic Durant campus is known as the Campus of a Thousand Magnolias and includes academic buildings, performance venues, athletic facilities, gathering spaces and historic Morrison Hall. Beyond its academic mission, Southeastern produces a substantial calendar of activities for students, alumni and the surrounding community, including Savage Storm athletics, theatre productions, concerts, Candlelighting, Homecoming activities, lectures, convocations, festivals, camps and other special programs. Many individual Southeastern facilities function as distinct event venues and should be represented by their own child records when appropriate.
