About Hoxie Thompson Auditorium
Hoxie Thompson Auditorium is a historic 157-seat auditorium inside Sherman Hall on the Austin College campus in Sherman. The auditorium serves as an intimate venue for lectures, symposium panels, academic presentations, public discussions and other college programs. The space was named in 1965 in honor of Hoxie Thompson, a 1901 Austin College graduate, longtime trustee and benefactor. Its history stretches back to Sherman Hall's original auditorium-chapel, which once seated approximately 1,000 people before the former balcony was converted to offices. Today the auditorium remains an active Austin College programming space, including use for multiple sessions of the annual Kenneth W. Street Law Symposium.
