About Herman Baker Park

Herman Baker Park is an 83-acre community park in west Sherman centered around Pickens Lake. The park offers a natural setting with mature vegetation, wildlife, lakeside trails, fishing, picnicking and opportunities for paddling. A natural trail circles the lake, with an additional creek loop extending the walking route, and the park also includes a marked Tree Trail highlighting local tree species. Sherman Parks & Recreation uses Herman Baker Park for outdoor and family programming including campouts, fishing activities and guided nature events.
