About Craig Hall
Craig Hall is the home of the Austin College Department of Music in Sherman and serves as a hub for music education, rehearsals, performances and selected visual-arts programming. Built in 1962, the facility contains classrooms, faculty offices, a music library, rehearsal rooms and the dedicated Craig Recital Hall. The building was intentionally designed for musical acoustics, with sloped ceilings and no rooms whose walls are exactly parallel. Craig Hall also retains an art gallery that continues to host student exhibitions. In addition to everyday academic use, the building supports public student recitals, music scholarship auditions, the Austin College Summer Music Camp and other scheduled arts programs.
