About Choctaw Cultural Center

The Choctaw Cultural Center is a major cultural and educational attraction in the Durant-Calera area dedicated to exploring, preserving and sharing Choctaw history and culture from the Choctaw perspective. The more than 100,000-square-foot center combines immersive permanent and temporary exhibitions with a vast outdoor Living Village, demonstration classrooms, the family-focused Luksi Activity Center, Kowi Chito Theater, Champuli Café and Hvshi Gift Store. Visitors can explore the Choctaw journey from ancestral homelands and Nanih Waiya through removal and the Trail of Tears to contemporary Choctaw communities, while hands-on programming brings traditions to life through stickball, social dancing, beadwork, basketweaving, finger weaving, cooking, crafts and other demonstrations. The Cultural Center also maintains a native prairie where bison returned in 2026 and offers a growing schedule of tours, workshops, festivals, art exhibitions and cultural events.
