About Butterfield Stage Players

Butterfield Stage Players is a nonprofit community theater in downtown Gainesville presenting live plays, musicals, comedies, dramas, youth productions and performing-arts programming. Founded by Cooke County residents in 1979, the organization has grown into one of the area's longstanding cultural institutions. Performances take place at 201 S Denton Street inside Gainesville's historic former Carnegie Library, where even the theater seating has local history: seats were repurposed from the Cooke County Courthouse. Butterfield also supports youth theater, classes, auditions, volunteer participation, special events and season-ticket programming.
